Poovar
Poovar is very close to Vizhinjam, a natural harbor. Poovar is an estuary which connects the sea at high tide. The river flows through 56 km Neyyar Neyyattinkara taluk in the Arabian Sea, near Poovar. [1] Its natural beauty makes it a quiet tourist town.
It is believed that merchant ships of King Solomon landed in a port called 'Ophir', which means Poovar. Poovar was a former Muslim villages along the west coast of India.The Central Mosque here is believed to have been built by Malik ibn Dinar and his mission team, more than 1,400 years.
