Krishnapuram Palace
The Krishnapuram Palace is a palace and museum in Alleppey near Kayamkulam in Alappuzha district, Kerala, in southwestern India. It was built in the 18th century by Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma (1729-1758 AD), the kingdom of Travancore. Built in the architectural style of Kerala, with gabled roofs, dormer windows, narrow hallway near Krishnapuram Krishnaswamy temple on the left side of the road between Ochir and Kayamkulam.
The king of the former state of Travancore built this place in the 18 th century after the demolition of the original palace was built (the date of construction is not back), Kayakulam Raja (Raja Ravi Varma Veera Oodanadu Vamsham time the king of Kayamkulam between 1700 and 1775 AD [5].) Initially, a small palace with a unique story, known locally as Ettukettu, was built in traditional style with a temple nearby lagoon and urappura Dalavar Kamyyan head, which was expanded by Ayyappan Pillai Mathsnada. The palace was built during the reign of Anizham Thirunal Martanda Varma (1729-1758) who had annexed the state in the battle Kayyakulam Travancore 1746. The palace complex has numerous buildings, which are a combination of traditional and Western architecture.
The present building, a three-storey complex was renovated in 1950 by the archaeological department of Kerala in a modern style in accordance with the technical expertise required for the protection of heritage buildings. As a protected monument houses the archaeological museum and offices.
