Hydor Malampuzha is a mini-power project built on the Malampuzha river (a tributary of Bharathapuzha) in Palakkad district of Kerala, southern India. It is also the biggest irrigation project in Kerala with an extensive network of canals. It is also one of the main tourist spots in Kerala. Malampuzha dam, the largest irrigation reservoir in Kerala, is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in October, from Tourism Week and Onam celebrations in September.




Malampuzha Dam has brought prosperity to the region, making the Palakkad rice bowl 'of Kerala. Paddy is grown on 50,000 hectares (200 km2) in two seasons with water to each of Malampuzha dam.

The Malampuzha Garden and the shell has a beautiful environment of wooded hills in the Western Ghats form the background, making it one of the leading tourist centers in the state.

Malampuzha dam on the river has a total length of 2069 meters. With that, masonry dam length 1849 meters while the underground dam covers a length of 220 meters. The catchment area of ​​the dam is 147.63 km ². Its storage capacity is 236.69 cubic meters. The full reservoir level of the dam is 115.06 m (375.15 m) and storage gross FRL is 226 mm3.
